Brandon Cook

Group Lead

Brandon Cook is an experienced professional in high-performance computing (HPC) and application performance, currently serving as Group Lead at Berkeley Lab since January 2016, where the HPC Programming Environments and Models Group focuses on enabling scientific advancement on NERSC systems through collaboration with various stakeholders. Prior to this role, Brandon was the Vice President of Cray User Group Inc from October 2019 to May 2022 and a Visiting Scholar at Vanderbilt University in 2016. Earlier career highlights include a postdoctoral fellowship at Oak Ridge National Laboratory funded by the National Science Foundation, concentrating on quantum electronic structure calculations for large-scale parallel systems. Brandon holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Lynchburg.
