Brian Austin

Brian Austin is a Computer Systems Engineer at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory since June 2010, focusing on the intersection of scientific computing algorithms and high-performance computing system architecture. Previous experience includes serving as a Petascale Postdoctoral Fellow at U.C. Berkeley from September 2002 to December 2009 and working as a Software Quality Assurance professional at Schrodinger from 2000 to 2002. Brian Austin earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 2008 and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Chemistry from Reed College in 2000. Expertise includes developing, implementing, and optimizing algorithms for ab initio quantum chemistry, particularly in quantum Monte Carlo methods.
