Ian Hoffman

Ian Hoffman is a Senior Energy Technology and Policy Researcher at the Building Technology and Urban Systems Division of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, a position held since July 2019, and has been with Berkeley Lab since July 2010 in roles as Senior Engineering Associate and Senior Research Associate, focusing on the assessment of local and state energy-efficiency program financing and implementation. Prior experience includes a tenure as a Research Analyst at The Rhodium Group LLC, where scenario analysis and development for modeling the energy economy were key responsibilities, and roles as a regional staff writer for BayAreaNewsGroup, encompassing science writing and investigative journalism from 2002 to 2007. Ian Hoffman holds a Master of Science in Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Virginia.
