Ian Holmes

Ian Holmes serves as a Professor at the University of California, Berkeley since 2004, leading a research group focused on developing algorithms and software for analyzing, visualizing, and designing DNA and protein sequences, notably through the widely-used JBrowse genome browser. Ian has also held various academic and research positions, including Associate Professor at LBNL and Scientist roles at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of Oxford. With experience as a University Lecturer at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, and a history of postdoctoral research and programming within prominent projects, Ian holds a PhD in Genetics and an MA in Physics and Theoretical Physics from the University of Cambridge.
