James Berryman is a Senior Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where they analyze methods for probing heterogeneous materials, including seismic and electromagnetic techniques, to locate resources and mitigate induced seismicity. Prior to this role, James was a Physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 1981 to 2006, where they developed image processing methods for earth material analysis and stabilized nonlinear inverse problems. They began their career as a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories, focusing on ocean acoustics for the US submarine navy from 1978 to 1981. James holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Kansas.
