Jenny Mortimer

Jenny Mortimer is a prominent academic in the field of plant synthetic biology, currently serving as a Professor at the University of Adelaide and as the Deputy Director (Interim) of the Waite Research Institute. Since August 2020, Jenny has held multiple titles within the University, including Associate Professor and Adjunct Associate Professor. Jenny is also a Chief Investigator and Node Leader at the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plants for Space. With extensive experience at Berkeley Lab since 2014, Jenny has contributed as an Affiliate Staff Scientist and held various leadership roles in the Feedstocks Division of the Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI). Prior experience includes a fellowship at RIKEN focused on biomass engineering and multiple postdoctoral positions at the University of Cambridge, including work funded by the BBSRC and the EU FP7 program. Jenny's educational background includes a PhD in Plant Science from the University of Cambridge, an MRes in Bioinformatics from the University of Exeter, and a BSc in Biology from the University of Bristol.
