Liwen Shih, Ph.D., is a DoE Visiting Research Faculty specializing in Quantum-Accelerated High-Performance Computing (QA^HPC) at both the Department of Energy's Quantum Science Center and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Currently affiliated with Berkeley Lab, Liwen Shih focuses on innovating solutions at the intersection of quantum computing, bioinformatics, and energy optimization. They have previously served as a professor and former chair in Computer Engineering at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where their teaching encompassed Quantum AI and High-Performance Computing. As a Fulbright Computer Specialist, Liwen contributed to international projects such as UAV computer vision for forest fire monitoring in Chile. They have also held positions as an NSF ACCESS/XSEDE Campus Champion and a Faculty Research Fellow at Barrios Technology.
