Marcel Huntemann is a software developer at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory's DOE Joint Genome Institute since June 2007, specializing in microbial gene feature prediction and functional annotation pipelines using scripting, Object Oriented Programming, and high-performance computing technologies. Prior to this role, Marcel served as a scientific programmer at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology from October 2004 to May 2007, where multiple genomic signatures and clustering algorithms were researched and analyzed for metagenomic sequence binning, culminating in the development of MetaClust, utilized in high-ranking journal projects. Marcel Huntemann obtained a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Bremen, completing studies between 1999 and 2006.
