Markus de Raad is a scientist with extensive experience in mass spectrometry and enzymatic assays. Currently, at Berkeley Lab since September 2014, Markus focuses on improving analytical methods through nanostructure-initiator mass spectrometry (NIMS) as a high-throughput alternative to traditional liquid chromatography and gas chromatography techniques. Prior to this role, Markus was a postdoctoral fellow at UC Berkeley from January to August 2014, where development of high-throughput and multiplex enzymatic assays was a key focus. Markus earned a PhD from Universiteit Utrecht, where research involved the directed evolution of artificial viruses and the design of multifunctional modular peptides for gene delivery, following a Master of Science in Drug Innovation from Utrecht University and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemistry from HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht.
