Matthew Mingay is a seasoned Bioinformatics Data Scientist at Berkeley Lab since January 2018, specializing in developing and optimizing bioinformatics pipelines and analyzing next-generation sequencing data. As the Founder and Executive at DataSense UBC since September 2015, Matthew established a data organization that has grown to over 300 members and received sponsorship from Google and IBM, while also organizing voluntary data science competitions. Prior experience includes serving as a Bioinformatics Scientist at the University of British Columbia, where Matthew generated and analyzed multi-omics DNA sequencing data leading to significant research contributions, and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant specializing in microbial genetics. Matthew holds a Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics and Epigenetics from The University of British Columbia and a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Sciences and Genetics from Western University.
