Michael Holmes is a Mechanical Engineer III with extensive experience in advanced light source and synchrotron design. Currently employed at Berkeley Lab since February 2019, Michael focuses on beamline, synchrotron, and endstation design. Previously, at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center from November 2006 to January 2019, Michael provided user support engineering for the Soft X-Ray Department and was instrumental in designing 57 complete endstation installations. Notable projects include the Design and implementation of various advanced instruments, including a differentially pumped liquid jet endstation and the dynamic reaction microscopy COLTRIMS endstation for LCLS-II. Michael's early career includes roles at Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory and Novellus Systems, where significant contributions were made to the design and improvement of various mechanical systems. Michael holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from San José State University.
