Nathan Hillson

Nathan Hillson serves as the Chief Information Officer and Director of Synthetic Biology Informatics at the Joint BioEnergy Institute since June 2009. As a founder and Chief Scientific Officer at TeselaGen Biotechnology, Nathan has been instrumental in advancing biotechnology since September 2011. Furthermore, Nathan leads as Principal Investigator at Agile BioFoundry and as Group Lead for Synthetic Biology Informatics at the Joint Genome Institute, with roles at Berkeley Lab, including Department Head of Biodesign and Interim Co-Deputy Division Director of Biological Systems and Engineering. Nathan is also an Affiliate Investigator at EBRC and previously at SynBERC. The academic foundation includes a PhD in Biophysics from Harvard Medical School and a BA in Physics/CAAM from Rice University, alongside a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine.
