Patrick Sorensen currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Rhode Island since January 2025 and has been affiliated with Berkeley Lab since July 2016, holding roles as Project Scientist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Patrick contributed as an NMDC Ambassador for the National Microbiome Data Collaborative from March 2024 to January 2025 and gained extensive teaching experience at Boston University from January 2011 to May 2016, focusing on lab courses in Microbiology, Global Change Biology, Ecology, and Introductory Biology. Earlier career activities include serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at Boise State University from January 2009 to December 2010 and working as a Fabrication Technician at Micron Technology in 2008. Patrick earned a PhD in Soil Microbiology and Biogeochemistry from Boston University, an MS in Soil Microbial Ecology from Boise State University, and a BS in Biology from Boise State University.
