Peter Grant

Peter Grant is an experienced Energy/Environmental Technology Researcher at Berkeley Lab since January 2021, managing a $7 million portfolio focused on low-GWP heat pumps and load-shifting controls. Key achievements include leading efforts to reduce electrification costs in cold climates, developing cost-effective heat pump water heater controls, and establishing an industry consortium for advanced control systems. Prior roles include Senior Research Manager at Beyond Efficiency and Senior Engineer at Frontier Energy, where projects involved smart controls and machine learning applications for energy efficiency. Peter holds a Graduate Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Stanford University and a Master’s in Architectural Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, along with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University.
