Saad Naseem

Postdoctoral Fellow

Saad Naseem, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Berkeley Lab and the Joint BioEnergy Institute since January 2022, specializing in sugar catabolism and the engineering of Pseudomonas putida. Prior experience includes a Doctoral Student position at Texas A&M University from August 2016 to December 2021, focusing on mechanistic enzymology in Tadhg Begley's lab with notable research in enzyme characterization and kinetic studies. Saad's technical skills encompass organic synthesis, recombinant protein techniques, enzyme kinetics, and protein crystallography, supported by expertise in various instrumental methods including HPLC and NMR. In addition to research, Saad served as a Teaching Assistant for first-year chemistry students at Texas A&M University. Educational credentials include a PhD in Biological Chemistry from Texas A&M University and ongoing studies for a Master of Science in Computer Science at Georgia Institute of Technology, with a focus on machine learning. An undergraduate degree in Chemistry was obtained from Lahore University of Management Sciences.
