Shannon Ciston

Shannon Ciston is an experienced professional in the field of chemical engineering and education, currently serving as the User Program Director at the Molecular Foundry at Berkeley Lab since April 2020. Shannon oversees the scientific proposal process, engages diverse user communities, and supervises the User Program Office staff while being part of the senior leadership team. Prior to this role, Shannon was a Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Education at the University of California, Berkeley, where responsibilities included curriculum stewardship, ABET accreditation coordination, and student advising. Shannon's academic background includes a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Northwestern University and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. Additional experience includes teaching at the University of New Haven and internships at various organizations, including Abbott Laboratories and Argonne National Laboratory.
