Tomáš Brůna

Staff Data Scientist

Tomáš Brůna is a Staff Data Scientist at Berkeley Lab since September 2022, focusing on plant genome annotation at Phytozome. Previously, Tomáš served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Georgia Institute of Technology from August 2017 to August 2022, where significant contributions were made in developing the BRAKER2 and GeneMark-EP+ algorithms for gene prediction. An Advanced Bioinformatics Research Intern at Philips in 2018, Tomáš created a genomics pipeline for DNA and RNA variant analysis. Additional experience includes researching unsupervised machine learning methods as a Data Scientist at Czech Technical University in Prague, and software development for a classroom reservation system at Charles University. Tomáš holds a PhD and an MS in Bioinformatics from Georgia Institute of Technology and a B.Sc. in Computer Software Engineering from Czech Technical University in Prague.
