Vir Karan

Vir Karan is a dedicated researcher currently pursuing a PhD in Materials Science at the University of California, Berkeley, while serving as a Graduate Student Research Assistant at Berkeley Lab under Dr. Kristin Persson. Previous experience includes an undergraduate research assistant role at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, where optimization of silver thin films and development of a deep learning-based framework for microstructural data were key contributions. Additional internships at the Centre for Design of Advanced Materials in Alberta and the Indian Institute of Science involved applications of neural networks and phase-field models in materials science. Karan has held various leadership and editorial positions within academic organizations, showcasing strong commitment to research and collaboration.
