Michael Meier has over 15 years of experience in the food and beverage industry. Michael began their career in 2004 as a Sommelier and Manager at Restaurant Lulu and Restaurant Azie. In 2007, they took on the role of Beer Buyer and Wine Team at A16, as well as Accounts Manager at TERRA FIRMA WINE COMPANY, LLC. From 2011 to 2017, they worked as Portfolio Director at Veritas Wine Partners Limited and FOH/Sommelier at The Slanted Door, where they were part of the team that won the James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurant (U.S.). In 2017, they became Lead Brewer at Heretic Brewing Company, and in 2018 they were appointed Head of Production at Berkeley Yeast.

Michael Meier has a background in education that is varied and extensive. Michael obtained a Professional Brewers Certificate from the University of California, Davis in 2017. From 2014 to 2016, they studied Chemistry, Physics, and Accounting at City College of San Francisco and Laney College. Prior to that, they studied Biology/Biological Sciences, General at Indiana University Bloomington. In addition, Michael Meier has obtained several certifications, including a Certified Cicerone\u00ae from the Cicerone Certification Program in September 2016, a Certified Sommelier from The Court of Master Sommeliers in 2006, a Certified Forklift Operator, and a Food Handler.
