Mark Baker

Mark joined the company in 2010 and held the position of Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary from 2011. He was appointed as Chief Executive Officer in November 2021.

During his tenure Mark has overseen several phases of the company, most recently having been a driving force behind the integration of the Watpac and BESIX Group business and repositioning the company as BESIX Watpac, an engineer-led multi-disciplinary contractor.

Mark brings nearly 25 years of experience in business operations, finance, accounting, and corporate governance. With a career spanning a wide range of industries, Mark has gathered a deep understanding of the property and construction industries and the drivers of success. He has significant experience in strategy development and execution, financial due diligence, transaction structuring, and risk management.

Mark has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts, and has a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance. Mark is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and is a certified Senior Member of the Finance and Treasury Association of Australia.
