John James has a diverse work experience in various leadership and co-founder roles in the fintech, asset and wealth management, and healthcare sectors. John is currently the Founding Managing Director at BOKA Group Holdings I LP. Previously, they served as the Chief Executive Officer at Fusion Acquisition Corp. II, a blank-check company focused on identifying acquisition targets in the fintech and adjacent technologies sectors. John was also the CEO at Fusion Acquisition Corp., which successfully merged with MoneyLion Inc. Additionally, John has held executive positions at BetaSmartz, where they served as Chairman & Founder and CEO & Founder. John co-founded Boka Group and ScalaMed, where they were involved in co-founding and investing in the companies. ScalaMed was acquired by Cardinal Health in July 2022.
John James started their education in 1997 at the University of Oxford, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) (Hons) degree until 2000. John then continued their studies at the same institution and obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree between 2000 and 2005.
In 2001, John also attended the University of London, where they focused on the field of Law for one year.
In 2015, John enrolled in the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Although they did not complete a degree at this institution, they studied Managerial Accounting and Digital Marketing.
Additionally, in March 2015, John obtained a certification in Integrity Matters from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).
