Richard Sheldon

Richard Sheldon serves as the Security Coordinator at Beth El Synagogue since March 2023, bringing extensive law enforcement experience from a 25-year tenure at the Minneapolis Police Department, where Richard held various roles including Lieutenant and managed the real-time crime center. Prior involvement with the City of Minneapolis included leadership in public safety initiatives for high-profile events such as the 2019 NCAA Final Four and SB52 operations. Throughout the career, Richard has contributed to crisis negotiation, crisis intervention, and peer support teams, with leadership roles in community support organizations for Special Olympics. Richard's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and ongoing studies toward a Master's degree in Counseling and Psychological Services, complemented by a certification in Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
