Romain Bertrand has worked for three companies since 2001. At BetterLesson, they served as Senior Manager of Solution Design from 2016 to 2020. In this role, they designed professional development solutions and course curriculum for school districts, supported technical sales, and coached schools and district leaders nationwide. Romain also served as Senior Manager of Innovative Learning Experiences from 2016 to 2020, during which they designed and drove project management for the implementation of onsite or virtual professional development activities, developed training on innovative learning experiences, and managed a team of full-time and contract coaches. Lastly, they served as a Blended Learning Instructional Coach from 2016 to 2020, during which they coached over 100 teachers nationwide, designed and led over 20 in-person Blended and Personalized Design Studios nationwide, and achieved a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of over 90 for 2 years in a row from end-of-year participants' surveys. From 2013 to 2016, Romain Bertrand worked for Ranson IB as a Math Multi-Classroom Leader, during which they led blended learning to become the first Title 1 school in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools delivering math instruction, transformed 6th-grade math blended learning program from a lab to a classroom rotation model in less than 6 months, and achieved student proficiency on the 2014 Discovery Education test of nearly 3x higher than it was the previous year.
Romain Bertrand has a diverse education background. Romain obtained a French Baccalaureate in Math, Physics, and Biology from Lycée Frédéric Mistral in 2000, a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Avignon in 1998, and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from Queens University of Charlotte in 2015. In addition, they have obtained certifications such as a North Carolina Principal License from the SELA Program at Queens University of Charlotte in 2019, a Real Time Teacher Coach from the Center for Transformative Teacher Training in 2015, an Emerging Leaders Program from New Leaders for New Schools in 2011, a French Math National Board Exam (CAPES) in 1999, and a North Carolina Teaching License for Math Grades 6-12 in 2006, 2009, and 2011.
