Chief Technology Officer at bettermarks

York Xylander's work experience includes serving as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at bettermarks GmbH from August 2009 to February 2019. In this role, they managed a team of 30 developers and oversaw the strategic architecture and operation of the company's SaaS platform. York also served as a member of the Board and was involved in investor communications and partner acquisition. Prior to that, they worked as the Principal Architect at bettermarks from October 2008 to August 2009.

Before joining bettermarks, York was the Owner of ObjectCode GmbH, an IT service company that they co-founded in January 1998. In this role, they played a key role in team building, product development, and project management. York established a strong client base and provided external development teams to customers.

Additionally, York served as the Executive Director and CTO at Leanovate GmbH, a Berlin-based service and solution company, from 2012 to December 2019. Leanovate is a subsidiary of ObjectCode GmbH, and York provided corporate oversight as the Managing Director. As CTO, they defined the technical strategy and supported the professional development of 15 software engineers.

Currently, York is serving as the Strategic Advisor for bettermarks GmbH, where they support their successor as CTO and advises the CEO on technical strategies and planning.

York Xylander began their education in 1988 at the University of Bonn, where they pursued a degree in Physics. York then moved to the University of Münster from 1990 to 1993, completing their Dipl. Phys. degree in Theoretical Physics. Continuing their academic journey, Xylander attended the University of Hamburg from 1993 to 1996, studying Theoretical Physics and obtaining their Ph. D. degree.
