Sam Moore

VP, Architecture at Betterment

Sam Moore is currently the VP of Architecture at Betterment. Prior to this role, Sam served as the Principal Engineer where they led the design and implementation of a brand new line of business: Betterment Checking. Sam also served as the Senior Staff Engineer and took over technical leadership of SRE team. Sam has been with Betterment since April 2017.

Before joining Betterment, Sam worked as a software engineer at various companies. Sam’s experience includes leading the exploration, evaluation, and implementation of re-platforming mobile codebases from native to Flutter as well as designing and implementing the migration of all Betterment applications from EC2-based AWS deployments to a disaster-recoverable, fully infrastructure-as-code, Kubernetes-based deployment system. Sam is also the creator of Coach, a build tool for Betterment's polyglot, monorepo codebases.

In addition to their engineering work, Sam has also been involved in Diversity and Inclusion steering committee and served as a mentor in Betterment's Leadership and Development program.

Sam Moore has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Fordham University. Sam is certified in Functional Programming Principles in Scala from Coursera.

Sam Moore reports to John Mileham, CTO. Some of their coworkers include Evol Greaves - VP, Engineering, Dan Corman - Director of Engineering, and Joni Pepin - Head of Internal Engineering.
