Steve Johnston is an experienced advisor and growth strategist specializing in human transformation and improvisational practices. Currently serving as an Advisor at BetterUp since July 2024, Johnston previously held the positions of Board Member, Investor, and Growth Advisor at Freestyle+, beginning in November 2021. From June 2004 to April 2021, Johnston was President and Co-Owner of The Second City, where significant contributions were made to the company’s expansion into corporate collaborations and education through improvisation. Additionally, Johnston co-founded Second City Works, a B2B venture that applies improvisational techniques to address business challenges. Earlier experience includes leading marketing efforts at True North from 2002 to 2004 and founding an online advertising venture at Corus Entertainment from 2000 to 2002. Johnston holds a BA in Commercial Studies, Business Administration, Economics, and Industrial Psychology from Western University, earned in 1996.
