Scholte's early career included positions at The Boston Consulting Group and Philips, focusing on corporate strategy and sustainable production. Scholte holds multiple engineering degrees, including an MSc in Mining and Petroleum Engineering from Delft University of Technology and Master of Engineering degrees from Imperial College London and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
