John Wissel

John Wissel has extensive work experience in software engineering and firmware engineering roles. John started their career at Siemens in 1997 as a Senior Member of Technical Staff, where they developed software for GPON and BPON ONTs and provided customer support. John also performed remote compatibility testing with various GPON OLT vendors. In 2006, they joined TXP Corporation as a Senior Software Engineer, where they provided customer support for GPON Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) and developed software for a discrete optics block. In 2009, they joined SkyFiber, Inc. as a Principal Software Engineer, leading a team of engineers and developing software for controlling a Free Space Optics (FSO) link. John also designed a patent-pending reciprocal alignment algorithm and implemented a CISCO-like CLI, SNMP agent, and HTTP GUI. In 2013, they moved to APCON as a Senior Firmware Engineer before joining iPhotonix in 2015 as a Principal Software Engineer.

John Wissel obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Engineering Math and Computer Science from the University of Louisville. John attended the university from 1992 to 1997.
