Empowered by NIZO, The Biotechnology Fermentation Factory (BFF) in Ede is a state-of-the-art, public-private, open-access scale-up facility dedicated to advancing the production of foods and food ingredients through fermentation technology, including precision fermentation.

As one of the few facilities of its kind, it plays a crucial role in accelerating both national and international innovation in (precision) fermentation, bridging the gap between research and large-scale production.

Located in the foodvalley region, a thriving hub for innovative food production, the facility benefits from a well-established ecosystem of cutting-edge research institutions, pioneering food companies, and specialized infrastructure. This dynamic environment makes it the ideal place for companies looking to scale their fermentation-based food innovations, collaborate with industry leaders, and gain access to essential expertise and resources.
