Mark Vessely is a highly experienced geotechnical engineer with over 25 years in the field. Currently serving as Principal Geotechnical Engineer at BGC Engineering Inc. since June 2018, Mark specializes in advising infrastructure owners on risk-informed frameworks for managing vulnerabilities in earthwork assets and geospatial exposures related to natural hazards. Prior roles include Vice President at Shannon & Wilson, Inc., where Mark managed geotechnical projects for transportation across the Rocky Mountain Region and contributed to the development of a Geotechnical Asset Management Implementation Manual for state departments of transportation. As a Resident Engineer at the Colorado Department of Transportation, Mark led teams on transportation infrastructure projects, and earlier experience includes senior geotechnical roles at multiple engineering firms and project management for groundwater and soil remediation projects at military sites. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a Master of Science in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Colorado Denver.
