Joanna Smart currently supports BGF's portfolio of early stage life sciences companies as part of the Early Stage Portfolio team since March 2023. In addition to this role, Joanna serves as a Non Executive Director for multiple organizations including Closed Loop Medicine, DefiniGEN, Entia, Kinomica, and Wobble Genomics, and joined Pathfinder Medical in September 2023. Joanna also holds the position of Chair for the NIHR i4i Product Development Awards Panel C and acts as a Board Observer for MIP Discovery. Additionally, Joanna is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Chiltern Music Academy. Educationally, Joanna obtained an MA (Hons) in Genetics from the University of Cambridge between 1996 and 1999.
