Jerry Strickland

Vice President & Texas Director at BGR Group

Jerry Strickland has a diverse work experience that spans over two decades. Jerry currently serves as the Vice President & Texas Director at BGR Group since July 2018. Prior to this, they held the role of Executive Director of the Texas Office of State-Federal Relations at the Office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott from January 2015 to July 2018. In this position, Jerry led the efforts to secure federal funding for the state's recovery from Hurricane Harvey.

Jerry also has extensive experience in communications. Jerry worked as the Communications Director for the Texas Attorney General's office from August 2003 to January 2015, and prior to that, they served as the Deputy Communications Director from August 2003 to June 2007.

Jerry's career began in journalism, where they worked as a News Correspondent/Reporter for CBS News in Dallas, Texas, from April 1999 to August 2003. Jerry also served as a News Anchor and Correspondent for KOCO, an ABC News affiliate, from 1996 to 1999.

Additionally, Jerry has entrepreneurial experience as the Owner of BikeCaffe Austin, where they worked from August 2011 to August 2014.

Jerry Strickland attended Jenks High School from 1989 to 1991. Jerry then went on to study at the University of Mississippi from 1991 to 1995. Jerry earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism.
