Andy Haile

Andy Haile has extensive experience in geotechnical engineering and governance within the mining industry, currently serving as the Global Practice Lead for Governance and Tailings at BHP since January 2019. Previous roles include Manager of Geotechnical Engineering at BHP Billiton Iron Ore and Principal Geotechnical Engineer at BHP Billiton Nickel West, among others. Andy's career began at Gold Fields of South Africa as a Rock Mechanics Engineer, advancing to roles of increasing responsibility. Academic qualifications include a BSc(Hons) in Mining Engineering from Camborne School of Mines and a PhD in Applied Mechanics (Rock Mechanics) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
