Chris Chester

Chris Chester is an experienced geotechnical engineer currently serving as the Principal Geotechnical Engineer and Orebody Knowledge Lead at BHP since May 2023. Prior to this role, Chris held similar positions at OZ Minerals from May 2019 to May 2023 and at Newcrest Mining from May 2015 to May 2019. Chris's career includes significant experience as a Specialist Geotechnical Engineer at Newcrest Mining, as well as previous roles at Barrick Gold Corporation and Coffey International Ltd. Chris began the professional journey at Barrick Gold Corporation as a Geotechnical Engineer and has a solid educational background with an MSc and PhD in Mining Geology and Geomechanics from the University of Exeter, complemented by a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology/Earth Science from the University of Liverpool.
