Garreth Carter

Principal Closure Planning (WAIO)

Garreth Carter is a geoscientist with over 20 years of experience in exploration, mine geology, and mine closure, specializing in diverse commodities such as iron ore, copper, diamonds, and nickel. Garreth began their career as a project geologist at Argyle Diamond Mine from 2001 to 2004, followed by roles at Rio Tinto Exploration and Norilsk Nickel. They served as Exploration Superintendent at BHPBilliton Iron Ore from 2008 to 2015 and are currently the Principal Closure Planning at BHP, focusing on closure issues for both legacy and current mine sites. Garreth holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honours in Geology/Earth Science from The University of Western Australia and a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance and Investment from FINSIA.
