Liz Watts

Liz Watts currently serves as an Advisory Board Member at the Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources and holds the position of NSWEC Vice President and Head of (Sustainable) Transition at BHP since December 2020. Prior experience includes roles such as Chief of Staff to the Chief Technical Officer at BHP and advisor on the Royalties for Rejuvenation Expert Panel for the NSW Government, focusing on investments for coal mining communities. Previous positions span from Head of Asset Integration at BMA to operational roles at Xstrata Coal and Coal and Allied Pty Ltd. Academically, Liz Watts earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Mining from UNSW, a Master of Business from the University of Newcastle, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Newcastle.
