Simon Thomas GAICD

Simon Thomas GAICD is the Vice President of Strategy and Growth in Group Operations at BHP, where they lead various major projects, including the Jansen Potash Project in Canada. With expertise in project delivery across multiple sectors, Simon previously served as General Manager and Project Director for BHP’s South Flank iron ore project in Australia, skillfully managing projects with a capital expenditure exceeding $US3.6 billion. A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Simon holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from the University of Melbourne. Their experience spans roles in engineering, construction management, and executive leadership, contributing to their success in transforming infrastructure businesses and enhancing capital efficiency. Outside of work, Simon enjoys cycling, playing guitar, and home renovations, reflecting their connection to the outdoors and rural Australian upbringing.
