Steve Rennick

Principal Generative Geoscientist

Steve Rennick is an experienced geoscientist specializing in mineral exploration, currently serving as Principal Generative Geoscientist at BHP since June 2021, focusing on global sedimentary copper and magmatic nickel exploration. Prior to this role, Steve held several positions at Independence Group (IGO) from January 2012 to June 2021, including Senior Generative Geologist and Senior Project Geologist, where duties included global project due diligence and exploration for magmatic nickel and copper deposits. Earlier experience includes geological roles at Rio Tinto and Cliffs Natural Resources in 2010, and various positions at IGO that involved greenfields and brownfields exploration across multiple commodities in Australia. Steve Rennick holds a Master of Economic Geology from the University of Tasmania (2018-2023) and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geology from The University of Western Australia (2008-2011).
