Angus Thorn

Angus Thorn has a diverse work experience in the field of cybersecurity and information technology. Angus currently serves as the Head of Security at BigPay | Challenge Banking since September 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Advisor at Appsec360 starting in July 2021.

Angus also has experience at Crypto.com, where they served as the Head of Security Operations for APAC from January 2022 to April 2022. Angus held the position of VP of Trust and Safety & Business Information Security Officer at Bukalapak from March 2021 to January 2022.

Before their roles in these companies, Angus had a significant tenure at Horangi Cyber Security. Angus progressed through several roles at Horangi, including Vice President of Cyber Services from April 2020 to September 2020, Director of Cyber Operations from September 2018 to April 2020, Head of Incident Response and Threat Intelligence from November 2017 to August 2018, and Senior Cyber Operations Consultant from August 2017 to October 2017. Angus's earlier work experience includes their role as the European ICT Manager at the Department of Defence of Australia, where they focused on tactical plans and ICT implementation from August 2014 to August 2017. Angus also worked as a System/Security Engineer at the same department from July 2012 to August 2014, where they played a key role in defending the Australian Government's networks and supporting cyber missions.

At the beginning of their career, Angus worked at Technology Services Group as a System Engineer, ensuring the smooth operation of database systems and performing system administration tasks, from December 2007 to July 2012. Angus also worked as a System Support Specialist at the same company from January 2007 to December 2007.

Through their career, Angus Thorn has demonstrated expertise and leadership in various aspects of cybersecurity, including security operations, incident response, threat intelligence, and strategic planning.

Angus Thorn completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science from the University of Tasmania, from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, they attended New Town High School, although specific dates of attendance were not provided.
