Matthew Jaggard

Matthew Jaggard is the current head of engineering at Billforward, a position they have held for 1 year 9 months. Prior to this, they served as the company's Chief Technology Officer and Head of Engineering. Matthew is also a co-founder of Applocker, a position they held for 1 year 8 months.

Matthew's professional career began at Barclays, where they worked for 3 years 2 months in various positions, including Regional Engineering Manager and VP Lead Developer. In these roles, Matthew led a team of 10-20 engineers in producing machine learning solutions to combat fraud. During the COVID lockdown, Matthew's team was responsible for solving many new issues, such as maintaining a good velocity of work in existing teams and managing a large new team.

In their role as Senior Java Programmer at IBM, Matthew worked on a suite of products for viewing documents. Matthew's responsibilities included writing new features and bug fixing, with a particular focus on system performance and cloud computing. Matthew also led the team in the position of scrum master, helping the team who are new to scrum to understand and apply the principals.

Throughout their career, Matthew has demonstrated their passion for producing excellent results for end users by prioritizing stakeholder feedback and coming up with innovative solutions to problems. Matthew has also had the opportunity to speak to large customers about the product, both technical people and executives, to help them understand what the product could do for them and answer some of their feature requests.

Matthew Jaggard has a BSc 2.1 from The University of Manchester in Computer Science, which they obtained between 2001 and 2004. Matthew was also involved in several extracurricular activities and societies during their time at university, including being the treasurer, webmaster, and vice-musical director for the Harmony Gospel Choir. Prior to their time at university, they attended Diss High School from 1999 to 2001, and Old Buckenham High School from 1996 to 1999. Matthew is also a member of the British Computer Society (MBCS).
