Bart Harlan

Instructional Designer at BILT

Bart Harlan has been working in the motion design and brand consulting field since 2016, when they became a Self-employed Motion Design and Brand Consultant. In 2018, they took on the role of Instructional Designer at BILT Incorporated, where they created interactive 3D assembly instructions, solid-modeled 3D parts in Fusion 360, and wrote and edited verbal instructions. Prior to this, they worked at NBC ArtHouse as a Motion Graphic Designer from 2002 to 2016, producing still and animated graphics, designing visual themes for network and story packages, and contributing to improvements in daily work flow and asset libraries. From 2001 to 2002, they worked as a 3D Modeler at Low Earth Orbit, designing logos for game and promotional materials, producing textured models for inclusion in 3D games, and creating game navigation, cut scenes, fonts, and other graphic elements. From 1996 to 2001, they were a Designer at Plaza 5 LLC (freelance), working with a small team to conceptualize site styles, navigation, and layouts, and providing graphics to fit both style and technical guidelines. Finally, from 1994 to 1996, they were an Artist at Rock 'N Learn, where they were responsible for all art and video for a successful start-up company, providing color and black & white illustrations for many educational topics, and creating print layouts for books, catalogs, ads, flyers, and displays for stores and trade shows. Prior to this, they were a Sign Layout Artist at Texas Advertising (now Visionary Sales Environments) from 1991 to 1994, where they designed and created vinyl cutouts for real estate signage, created and updated clients' logos for business identity and land development projects, and ensured adherence to client specifications.

Bart Harlan attended Texas A&M University from 1987 to 1991, where they earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design in the College of Architecture.
