Joe Cormier

Joe Cormier, PhD, PE, is a Senior Research Scientist at Biomechanics Consulting and Research LLC, where they focus on human tolerance to impact forces. Their research includes laboratory testing on various body regions and culminated in a PhD dissertation that contributed to an Army project on facial impacts. Joe has published studies comparing human volunteer responses to rear impacts and real-world collisions, highlighting the similarities in reported symptoms of whiplash regardless of gender. They possess a rich background in biomechanics, having served as an adjunct assistant professor and consultant, and they actively support litigation involving injury cases. Joe holds a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Virginia Tech.
