Steve Smith

Steve Smith is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the biotech and life sciences sectors. As the CEO and Founder of Mendel Partners since June 2021, Smith leads the world's first Biotech Start-Up Partners focused exclusively on Advanced Therapies and Rare Diseases, facilitating connections between biotech clients and top-tier investors and leadership teams. In addition, Smith serves as an expert at the BioExpert Network, offering critical evaluations of R&D proposals for startup companies. Prior to these roles, Smith held positions as Head of Rare Diseases and Cell & Gene Therapy at Next Phase Recruitment, and as Head of Rare Diseases & Gene Therapy at Morgan Prestwich, where efforts centered on recruiting talent and securing investments for businesses in the Rare Disease and Gene Therapy fields. Smith's career also included a reflective period during garden leave, following nine years with a single company.
