Eric Tien, PhD, DABT is an experienced toxicologist with a strong background in drug development. Currently serving as Director and Principal Scientist at Biogen since November 2014, Eric leads toxicology project teams and coordinates various toxicology studies for both small and large molecule drug development. Prior experience includes a Senior Scientist role in Discovery Toxicology at Amgen from January 2010 to November 2014, where Eric similarly led project teams and represented safety and toxicology functions. Earlier positions at Pfizer involved evaluating targets for type 2 diabetes therapeutics and developing co-culture cell systems. Eric began a research career as an Intramural Research Training Post Doctoral Fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences/National Institutes of Health, focusing on drug metabolizing enzymes and endocrine signaling. Eric holds a PhD in Molecular Toxicology from Penn State University and a BS in Biology from Case Western Reserve University.
