Michael Rooney

Michael Rooney is a seasoned scientist with extensive experience in drug discovery, nonclinical and clinical development, and a strong focus on DMPK activities. Currently serving as Director at Biogen since July 2015, Michael leads clinical pharmacology initiatives across various projects. Prior roles include Associate Director and Principal Scientist within the same organization, as well as Principal Scientist in DMPK and Clinical Pharmacology at AstraZeneca, where expertise contributed significantly to drug progression. Michael's earlier experience includes serving as Principal Investigator at ArQule, overseeing a team focused on in vitro metabolism and PK analysis, and as an Analytical Chemist at Bayer Diagnostics, where analytical functions were established to enhance assay development. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of New Hampshire and a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Colby College, supplemented by studies at The University of Edinburgh.
