BioLabMate Composite Inc. is a cleantech biomaterials company developing sustainable, high-performance alternatives to single-use plastics used in research laboratories and medical environments. Led by CEO Dr. Sarika Kumari and Co-founder & CTO Sanjay Dubey, the company addresses a critical global challenge, as research laboratories generate approximately 5.5 million tonnes of plastic waste annually, much of which is single-use. 

Originating from Memorial University of Newfoundland and based in Newfoundland and Labrador, BioLabMate develops seaweed-derived thermoplastic bio-resins engineered to integrate seamlessly with existing conventional and additive plastic manufacturing processes. By leveraging renewable, ocean-based biomass, the company enables the production of biodegradable lab consumables and specialty plastic components while maintaining material performance and meeting increasing regulatory and sustainability demands. 

Through the use of Atlantic Canada’s abundant marine resources, BioLabMate contributes to the advancement of a circular, ocean-based bioeconomy, reducing reliance on fossil-derived plastics and supporting scalable, locally anchored manufacturing solutions aligned with the evolving needs of global industries.
