Anna Spier

Anna Spier is a scientist at BioNTech SE since October 2021, specializing in the impact of mitochondrial energy metabolism on Listeria monocytogenes infection. Previously, Anna held roles as a postdoctoral researcher and PhD student at Institut Pasteur from October 2017 to June 2021, focusing on mitochondrial respiration in bacterial infections and utilizing techniques such as cell culture, CFU counts, microscopy, and flow cytometry. Anna's academic journey includes a Master Thesis Research Internship at Institut Pasteur on mitochondrial bioenergetics, participation in the AMGEN Scholar Program studying Veillonella phages, and a Bachelor's Thesis Research Internship at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Anna earned a PhD in Microbiology from Université Paris Cité and both a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Medical Biology from the University of Duisburg-Essen.
