Michael Werthebach

Michael Werthebach is an experienced professional in the field of Pharmacovigilance and Quality Assurance, currently serving as Director of Safety Process Excellence at BioNTech SE since April 2021, where responsibilities include building interfaces among Pharmacovigilance, Medical Information, and Quality Assurance. Prior to this role, Michael worked at PharmaLex as Senior Manager Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacovigilance Manager, leading international PV project teams and supporting the implementation of PV systems. Michael began a research career as a Forschender Doktorand at Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, focusing on lipid droplet-associated proteins, and has practical experience in drug safety from a previous position at Merz Pharmaceuticals. Michael's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Düsseldorf and a Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences from Justus Liebig University Giessen.
