Eric Nagy earned a Ph.D. in Population Biology from the University of California, Davis (1989–1995) and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Oberlin College (1981–1985). They served as Professor of Biology at the University of Virginia from 2019 to 2024 and as Associate Director of Mountain Lake Biological Station, directing programs and NSF-funded initiatives. They led organizational and governance efforts with the Organization of Biological Field Stations (2000–2020) and currently serve on the boards of BioOne (2018–Present) and the American Institute of Biological Sciences (2006–Present). They are Professor Emeritus of Biology.
