Ingrid Brands has a long and varied work experience. In 2019, they co-founded BioStrand, where they served as the CEO. Under their leadership, the company secured 2.5 million euros of private investment and public grants in the first year of business, directed commercial strategies to make the company profitable in its first year, launched commercially ready disruptive technology solutions against tight deadlines, expanded their winning team, and attracted highly sought after experts such as Board Members Stijn Bijnens and Dirk Witters. Also in 2019, they co-founded BioClue, where they served as a senior medical researcher. BioClue holds patents for a revolutionary algorithm for genomic data analysis. In 1998, they began working at Libra Revalidatie & Audiologie, where they served as Subdirector of education for residents in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and as a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine. In this role, they were instrumental in transforming medical care to patients with brain injury by creating a specialised outpatient neuropsychological rehab programme, integrating neurorehab and neuropsychiatry into one programme. In 2015, they began working as a Senior Researcher at the Rotterdam Neurorehabilitation Research programme.
Ingrid Brands has an extensive education history. Ingrid earned a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from KU Leuven in 1986-1993, a Doctor of Medicine - MD from KU Leuven in 1993-1998, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Maastricht University in 2010-2015, with a field of study in the adaptation process after acquired brain injury.
